Trademarks

Knight Law Services has experience preparing and prosecuting trademark applications in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In addition to US trademark registration, international trademark applications are prepared and filed in accordance with the Madrid Protocol or directly via foreign agents. Specifically, Knight Law Services is well suited to provide its clients with a wide range of services that include trademark clearance, registration and renewal services. Along with counseling clients on trademark registration issues, Knight Law Services also advises clients on trademark enforcement and defense matters.

Copyrights

The full range of services provided by Knight Law Services also includes copyright counseling on matters that involve the protection of, infringement of and/or registration of computer software, literary works, works of artistic expression as well as for other types of copyrightable subject matter.

Client Counseling

In addition to preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications and providing copyright counseling, Knight Law Services provides advice on the strategic aspects of prosecution that will best allow the client to enhance its market position, increase the value of its intellectual property assets and achieve its business objectives.

We counsel our clients on how to develop and improve their intellectual property strategies, as well as evaluate and identify technological developments and inventions that are likely to produce valuable patents. As a component of our strategic planning services, we perform patent landscape analyses to make patenting recommendations. We use similar analyses to expose risks and develop design around options when our clients are faced with competitor patents that may interfere with their business plans.

We analyze patents in anticipation of litigation to determine infringement or lack thereof, and perform trademark portfolio analysis to assess the strength of our clients’ trademark portfolios. We conduct due diligence studies on behalf of clients that acquire intellectual property rights through mergers and acquisitions by analyzing the relevant intellectual property assets.

We seek to further assist our clients by drafting and negotiating patent and trademark licenses that allow them to fully exploit their intellectual property assets so that their market position may be enhanced and their revenue increased.
